This is not a chronicle, but a journal. "The Two Years" for today im celebrating my second anniversary at deviantart. I have seen a lot, heard a lot and have learnt a lot here. For two years I submitted my traditional works, now you will see me crossing boundaries over to digital medium. Thanks to everyone who walked these two years with me, to those who came out to be great friends and great influences. I wont discuss my other friends in this chronicle, instead im publishing some comments some words to remember, to live by, while I was here on devart.
On Madonna Ray of Light
The reason why I addded this to fav is beacuse of the astounding artwork!
Infact, I dislike MAD-onna!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
yeh its true you can make better art with multiple sorts of pencils.. cos u have a wider range of texture/color/blabla .. but if i start drawin' i always forget to switch pencils haha therefore i only use 2B pencils. and yeah.. compared to your new work this looks crappy lol but its madonna ! gotta love her <3 haha
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sorry I'm replying so late after you wrote the comment but I agree with you, I take art classes and I noticed that although some things get better, some things are actually worse! They try to teach you new techniques when the old one worked just as well, I think art teachers should give you more freedom, teach you 3 or more ways to do artwork not just the way they prefer, art is fully dependent on freedom and if it's not granted, the student may not do as well. Thankyou for maybe reading this very long comment ^^

good point, ive never looked at it that way. I guess ive just never questioned it b/c ive taken them my whole life. I can see your point though, sometimes by taking the art classes, i forget how to just forget about rules and being open minded. On the other hand, for me i think its been good, but thats just me, im glad you've found something that works for you, thanks for your honesty!

Sweet mother of god. This is... brilliant. Love the details, the execution. Love the glare on the shades. Good

Hey Bobby, I saw this and didn't comment right away because I wanted to give it the time it deserved. This is my
favorite piece of yours so far. The reflection in the glasses, the hair, the skin, and the lips. All so
wonderful. I especially like how, in all your pieces, you incorporate beautiful words. And thank you for the
dedication in this piece to me.
You're getting better all the time.

Looks amazing, the hair especially... That's my achilles you know... Any advise?
I really like the funny reflection in the glasses - the umbrella - it's like you create an other dimension just by insinuating that there's standing an umbrella behind the watcher. °like it!°

nice work

great drawing.. if I can be bit critical.. U could play bit more with details.. but it's ok.Just something on
shading didn't fit to me here.. I looked on it and saw it.. You have shades like you have background one thing,
than some transparent layer with shades of figure and than figure. It's best seen on shade of leg, which stands
on ground.. shade should be curved by ground... And not just after person, because there's bend, where ground
becomes to wall and shade should be curved and more on ground I think.. U know what I mean?
I hope this will help... and don't bother much...

haha just surfing posts and i saw your stuff. decided id check it out. i like this but the face seems kind of off. i think it just needs more subtle tones because everything around it is so well rendered

I'm extremely humbled by your complimants my friend, but I must say that I agree. Art is all about expressing onself on the medium. That's what makes it so wonderful, the sincerety in it. Art is exactly like Iggy pop's defination of punk rock: It's music that takes up the energy, the hearst, the minds, the souls of young men who give what they have to it and give everything they have to it. And simply glancing at your work is proof enough that you put every ounce of energy and soul and heart in you while creating the piece. T
You're art is on the highest of levels

Yeah, I know about Nirvana's meaning... I saw Nirvana as an Indian god or goddess in my history class, don't remember too well. But yeah, I learned about that from what Cobain said...
Nirvana is not a god or goddess. its a concept from Budhism which is associated with MOKSHA, KARMA and MAYA. Nirvana is salvation. to achieve it one has to perform good KARMA(deeds), and stay away from MAYA(material needs) and by following the pathway of MOKSHA(satisfaction) and get to NIRVANA(salvation). Got it?

aye aye I agree and I know he is dead... its stupid he killed himself but I hope his soul rests in piece
somewhere. I liked what he stood for.

Logan.
that is all
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It's so damn original... I mean the way you work.
It looks like a mess but when you look at it from the right distance... it's gorgeous!
It's so natural... not forced into perfect lines and shapes... just rough and awesome!
Keep up the good work!!

on Jolie Portrait Series I
someone i know did da same picture but no blood/liquid from da mouth and her chin looks blocky... but your
version, looks great! one thing of angelina is her chin, her expression n her lips... i love da way it looks!
however, da uppper lines of her eyes (da dark straight line on top of her eye) looks kinda weird... its too
'pencil-like' u know? LOL! perhaps shade a little or darken da area
nwez keep it up! looks great
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The photo/picture of Jolie I had assumed that this is from, because I've seen it around. Looking at it closely, the lips and blood are a shade off the rest of her skin, and there's a very thin line which looks like the mouth has been put onto the picture. Which I thought was a shame, because were it her, it would be pretty to stare at. But I ramble now. The portrait was very well done though: I like it.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I like it, its good, but there's a little too much difference in the softness... the darker tone is too sharp sometimes, like the eyelids, eyebrows, and the blood on her top lip.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Beautifully drawn. Always respect for traditional painters, who have to do it without ctrl-z and a history palette : ) And...ik like your creative freedom. That's to say: I assume that the bloodpart came from your mind and she wasn't really photographed this way?

on Light Hair and Eye Tutorial
i disagree w/ one thing you've mentioned about shading with fingers. i've read/heard from numerous ppl never to use your fingers b/c of the oils in your skin.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
wow buddy....thats a fabulous tutorial, not only for pencil artists but also others like me...ur skill levels are up there! Cheers.

What a great tutorial! I just finished reading through it. I think I've read through this tutorial before and tried it with one of my drawings. Didn't turn out soft though but I think that's just practice on my part. Portrait drawing has always been something I've loved but have been frightened to try as I never could make my drawings look like the subject but this tutorial will certainly come in handy ^_^ I did learn eyes from this - although I still need practice making them look "glassy" - so hard. Anyway, thank you for taking the time to write a tutorial for those of us still learning to make realistic looking pieces. It is very much appreciated!

I find this very subtle, very sexy, and very powerful. Subtle, as what to I say is a mix counter feeling of a masculinary subject, sexy as to the lines and values added, and powerful as I can imagine its movements of speed. This is really good. Worth the praising man, keep it up!

On mustang vector Portrait
I don't like it, but i can't do as good as you did
Wheels aren't oval and everything is too much pixelated... I propose to you export this vector to raster in 4 times larger size, then open it in photoshop, use blur 1px or 2 px, and then scale it to 25% with bilinear filtering. It should be smoother and sharp in the same time
(Sorry for language mistakes, if there are any...)

hey hun, is it ok if i use one of your pictures on a card i'm making for my dad. it's the ferrari picture. he's got to drive a red one of that type for his birthday last year. Also if i'd thought of the idea sooner, i would have asked you to draw me a subaru impreza for me, as last night i said "what would you like for your birthday, dad?" and he said " a subaru impreza, please!".... oh well.. maybe next
as the wire cuts into my butter skin~
